In an article looking at how investors are urging buyout firms to focus on enhancing their companies instead of employing various financial manoeuvres to maintain operations in a context of continuing high interest rates, Noël Amenc, associate professor of Finance at EDHEC Business School, commented on the inaccuracy of private valuations which do not use the latest market data:
““You could argue that all private valuations are incorrect since current practices don’t use the latest market inputs,” says Noel Amenc, associate finance professor at EDHEC Business School. Data from his team shows most private assets are marked in “significantly different” ways to where they’d be priced if their valuers incorporated data representative of their market.”
